Script Before Shooting
At Content Squared, we still believe that people like stories. And, the combination of words and visuals in a video enhance retention. A script and storyboard are indispensable in video production because they provide structure, clarity, and cost‑efficiency — just as Hollywood rightly insists on scripted storytelling. A script delivers a clear narrative framework that engages the audience, while a storyboard visualizes each scene, ensuring the right sequence and emotional impact. This preparation allows teams to spot potential problems early, plan camera angles, pacing, and resource needs, and avoid costly reshoots or wasted footage. It also enables stakeholders to review and shape the vision before filming, aligning everyone and reducing expensive revisions. Though spontaneity can feel authentic, unplanned shooting often leads to errors, off‑message takes, and increased costs. In short, having a script and storyboard transforms video production from guesswork into a focused, collaborative process that delivers maximum impact at minimal expense.

Content Squared has experience writing scripts and producing storyboards for training videos, product videos, non-profit videos and partner-enablement videos. In one case, we developed a script and storyboard for a product that wasn't even in the prototype stage — a real challenge because there was no real product to shoot! But, the customer wanted to familiarize prospective clients with the concept so it served as a teaser that created great excitement!

The storyboard for Trystar's GridPak video was created in PowerPoint using stock video footage and captions. It is shown below along with the final product. Since then, new videos featuring the actual product have been created.
